Checking in + The Balcom Twins
Dec. 7th, 2023 09:34 amDearly Departed and Batty Beauties,
Here lies Venus. She assures you all, she has not forgotten about DW! She has had less time to be on it due to IRL things and getting back into Discord roleplay, as well as writing for Ladies Bingo!
Her current obsessions in terms of Discord RP are her new twin characters, Mandaline and Lally Balcom. Gore wrote them based on Ethel Cain's Inbred, so, there are... well. Themes. (Even if you don't know the song, just look at the name!) The themes aren't EXPLICIT, or even canon really, but they're certainly subtextual, and they are two twins who are closer than twins should be. They don't know where one ends and the other begins. In Inbred, the narrator is a young girl who lives in a dilapidated, disgusting house with her older brother, a "scumbag fuck" that she'll swear her life to protect. Their mother dies in her bed and rots there without them knowing. Carmilla took all of these themes and ran with them, but instead of an older brother (why would she write about a MAN?) she made the two twin sisters, using Angela Bettis in May as both faceclaims. Check them out below.

Mandaline is the Perfect Girl, one who goes to church and votes center-left/liberal. She's outwardly nice if a bit distant, but is really lying through her teeth about everything she says. A certain incident in their childhood regarding their mother's corpse revealed Mandaline's true nature as a manipulative woman who holds no one in high regard, even her own family.
Lally is the Outcast, the attack dog, who's atheist and an anarcho-communist. Her life is going nowhere, evident by how she's been stuck in a low-income supermarket job for a while. She is passive in the abuse she faces, and lets everybody walk all over her, except her sister, who she will butt heads with and even physically attack. She despises most people, who she calls "brainwashed sheep", since they don't see the world the same way she does--as a status ladder made of broken glass, with politicians who don't care about us at the top. Lally prides herself on having opted out of this framework, even if that does manifest in her working at a job she hates for years on end.
(... The fleshmaiden thinks it is quite obvious which twin she likes more.)
Wishing all Dearly Departed well,
Venus
